What can I change in the Settings Section of MyMalcolm?

The Settings Section of MyMalcolm offers a variety of configuration options for your Instance.

Within this section you can change the following things:

The name and description of your Instance (this is seen within MyMalcolm by other Team members)
The subdomain used for your Malcolm! Instance and/or setup your own custom domain
Manage third party Javascript tracking tags
Turn the Hosted Hub off/on and configure whether it appears in search engines
Turn approvals off/on
Redirect base URL if Hosted Hub not used
Transfer Instance ownership to someone else
Delete your Instance
Turn FAQs on/off
Turn Workflows on/off
Manage your Integration credentials

Question 2

How can I review the activities of other Team members on my Instance?

Accepted Answer

You can do this via the Team section of MyMalcolm. Click on a user name and you will see their activity within the instance. You can apply filters to this information via the filter icon.

My verification email has not arrived?

Accepted Answer

Your verification email (to verify your email address) should usually arrive within a few minutes. If it hasn't turned up check your spam folder.

If the email still hasn't arrived after a few minutes there are a few possible reasons:

Occasionally users may accidentally misspel their email address
There could be a temporary issue at our email sending provider (Mailgun) that is delaying emails
There could be a temporary issue at your email provider that is delaying emails
You may have very strict email filtering enabled and don't accept email from new senders (in this case you should update your rules to allow email from support@malcolm.app)
Your email provider may be rejecting email sent by our email sending provider (Mailgun)

The quickest resolution in many cases is simply to register again using a different email address.

How do I set the time zone of my Instance?

You can choose the time zone your Malcolm! instance runs in MyMalcolm via Settings / Instance / General.

When you select times/dates in MyMalcolm eg for things like scheduled publishing these should reflect the time zone of the instance rather than your local time zone (which might be different). Similarly when you export data and receive email alerts from Malcolm! these will reflect the instance time zone.

How do I build a Workflow?

You can build a Workflow quickly via the Workflow Builder in MyMalcolm.

To get started, first go to the Workflow section of MyMalcolm and then click "Create a Workflow" towards the top right of the screen.

You can then choose whether to build a Workflow from scratch, start with one of our templates or - if you have already created some Workflows previously - clone one of those previously created Workflows.

You can then use our drag and drop builder to create your Workflow.

Our Workflow builder enables you to:

Drag and drop question elements onto your form
Customise those question elements
Configure Filters, Validators and Rules
Split forms over multiple pages
Customise page titles and progress bars
Customise thank you page

Once you have created the content of your form, you can to the Configure tab and configure various options including setting up email notifications or Integrations.

By default your Workflow is created as a web form that you access via a URL. But you can also surface that Workflow in a variety of other ways (including float it over page in a widget, via a modal/overlay launched by a button you place on a site, or via embeds or plugins) - take a look at the Share section of MyMalcolm to do this.

Can I password protect my Hosted Hub?

Yes, you can password protect your Hosted Hub. You can also password protect individual FAQ's or Workflows.

How do I add Intro text for Categories, Authors & Tags?

You can add introductory text to your Categories, Authors & Tag listings. This is perfect for giving your customers/users added context or information as they browse your content.

In MyMalcolm you'll see the a "Description" field when you add or edit a Category, Author or Tag.

The Description field supports markdown so it's possible to add styling, links and media too. The content you add will appear on your hosted hub as well as our other formats like embeds, overlays and widgets.

Do you mark content up in Schema?

By default we mark up your FAQ hosted hub content using the FAQPage schema. This is useful for search engine results. If your content is more general in nature you may prefer to change the schema used to WebPage. You can also do this from Settings --> FAQs.

Can I turn off the "last updated" date on FAQs?

If you'd like to hide the "last updated" date displayed on an FAQ you can do this on a per FAQ basis via the Configure / General area of the FAQ in MyMalcolm:
